I'll be receiving my new Blackberry 8830 from US Cellular sometime this week. I've herd rumors that GSM is disable on the US Cellular version of the phone. I was planning on taking it oversea with me to the far East (I know I can't use it in Japan). Can anybody that has US Cellular confirm this. Is there away to re-enable the GSM if disabled via software hacking? Is the GPS active?

I have a 8830 and I am pretty sure all you will need is a sim card. Ask your cellular agent about it. Should work.
