Default 8830 Turning Itself Off When Wall Charging?

I've tried searching around for the answer to this so hopefully the first response isn't a link to another thread.

I just fired this sucker up a couple of days ago for the first time and last night was the first time I tried to charge it while leaving the unit on. I answered a phone call and while talking it just did some sort of reset/power off. When I powered it back up I got the hourglass for about a minute and then noticed the last call I was on was not even listed in the history.

I thought it was a fluke so I put it back on the charger. I tried checking my Facebook a few minutes later and the same thing happened.

Any ideas?

Was the battery gauge in the red when it happened? If the battery charge is too low, you can't talk while it's charging. You shouldn't let it get that low if you can help it.

Mine does the same thing, when my battery just does get to half-way dead, I charge mine. It also cuts on and off. What is the deal with that?

This is a hardware issue. This should not be happening with a properly working OS and Blackberry hardware. I just charged mine last night after being forced to stop youtubing a 5% battery when the radio turned off. No problems with turn off or rebooting on its own when I plug in.

Actually I was at around 50% charge and just wanted to fill it up while watching tv. So if it is a hardware/os issue should I return it for a new unit or upgrade the os? I'm at 4.2.2.x currently.

Mine rebooted once last night on its own, but that was the only time it ever happened to me. I'm still on my factory os as well

If you're not on 4.2.2.196, upgrade to it first. If that doens't fix it, then get Sprint to replace it under warranty if it's still less then a year old.

With early 4.5OS versions, I've experienced the same reboots when trying to charge... it was intermittant and in that case, was an OS stability issue/bug. Under normal conditions, this should not happen, especially when it can be duplicated with every plugin for a charge.

I'm on .196 but I haven't had the issue since the OP. If it happens again I'll definitely take it in for a replacement.
