I am interested in getting an 8830 WE from Verizon. Should I wait for the Curve? What are the differences other than a camera? I don't know how much information Verizon has released about the Curve but any input is appreciated.
I would wait for the curve if I were you. The camera actually affects a few things mainly enhanced messaging service. This means on the 8830 it won't let you type more than 160 characters in a text message, it also won't let you receive MMS. On the curve you can at least have the option to type more than 160 and splits them into seperate messages. It also uses MMS. It has two convienence keys to the 8830's one. Its also got seperated keys unlike the 8830 where they are connected. People with bigger fingers like this because they find it easier to type.
I'd say unless you're a business user who needs a phone with no camera you should get the curve! But its all up to you in the end

I just got the 8830, and i really like the look of it better than the curve... so it may have a lot to do with your personal opinion... btw i cam from a 755p/ 8703 combo to a 8830 by itself... and I LOVE IT ... 1 phone FTW
I have the 8830 only because Alltel doesn't have the curve yet. I want a curve. It just feels better in my hand. The 8830 is a slippery little guy. I also liked the spacing between the keys.
I have the 8830 and am also wanting the curve. The camera is a great feature and I text allot so the over 160 chars will help. Sprint does not have this yet but the day they do I am gone to get it. )
I'm getting rid of my 8830 for the Curve when Sprint launches it. I didn't think I'd miss the camera as I really don't take a lot of pics with my phone, but there have been some times lately that it would be really nice to have.
Sprint's version has Sprint TV which will be nice with the upcoming NFL season. (NFL network is live).
The reason I got the 8830 WE is for use in Europe and other places that are GSM only. Since Verizon is CDMA the 8830 is really the best bet for world travelers.
I guess i could go back to carrying multiple phones, but that's why I went to the 8830.
I just wish RIM would make 1 phone that does it all, but then again Verizon would still block some of the features.....can you say GPS.
I have an 8830 and and 8320.. I love them both.. but when the 8330 comes out I will probably switch to it.. why? I miss not having a camera, not to mention that the 8330 will have os 4.3 which means video recording and support for my 8gb microsdhc card, among other things! The curve also has a 3.5mm headphone jack instead of 2.5, yes you can get an adapter.. but I think 3.5 is more convenient..
I originally got the 8830 because of the "World Edition" feature, but where I usually travel I can't even take advantage of it because it only works on 900/1800mhz gsm frequencies! So yeah, when the 8330 FINALLY comes out for Sprint I may switch... although I might just wait for a 9000 and switch carriers all together.. sorry Sprint..
