Just picked up my first BlackBerry, an 8830 from Verizon on Monday. This thing is driving me nuts with how much it creaks! Anyone else have this problem? Should I take it back tommorow and switch to the 8703e?

I have not had any noises that I could describe as creaking.

It seems like the sides on mine are just flimsy and make a creaking noise whenever its in my hand

when i baught the phone it was solid as a rock, never dropped, but now the sides make noise, so does the place where the verizon logo is, it moves, and makes a noise.

cheap design, i read that even att 8800 do the same so.

Yeah, mine used to be quite solid and now, it creaks where the branding is. Sucks

Out of all the problems I've had can't say this is one of them although I've had my share of troubles with my BB! Then again, I am on my 4th 8830WE so haven't had it long enough for it to be tweaking!

No creaking here ... but I did place a hard cover over it within a few days of purchasing it, to protect my investment ... you should take it back to the VZW store you bought it from and get it replaced, then get it protection

My 8830 has made a Creaking Sound around the logo and sides since it was first sent to me from Verizon. I agree that the exterior build quality is lousy, however the phone seems to function just fine.

i think my replacement 8830 started out creaking but after awhile it went away maybe due to wear? i tried just now, no real annoying sounds anymore

I found that by putting some paper or card where the battery is stops the creaking as it makes it more sturdy

No creaking sounds from mine after 4 months. Solid as a rock (knock on wood).

Hmm, I just got my replacement 8830 two days ago and the first thing I noticed is that there is "NO CREAKING"... now I had my original 8830 for 1.5 months and it "creaked" like there was no tomorrow! So I'm in agreement with the rest of the field, poor design.

The bottom piece on mine under the keyboard, that says Alltel, that's the part that creaks. I thought I was crazy and now I realize that it's not just my imagination!
