trackball problem

Hello--put in new trackball because pushing it down did nothing most of the time. it always scrolled up-down and side to side fine . think it must be contact on phone. anyone know if this is repairable?

got it working. took out trackball. turned phoned on used a pencil with rubber on end pushed on contact a few times to see if it was connecting. it was put trackball back in and ball now operates
