It looks like the Boy Genius got his hands on an evaluation unit:

I'm excited. Can't wait. Though I'm still not convinced I will personally like the rollerball more than the current trackwheel.Last edited by Kevin Michaluk; 02-15-2007 at 04:40 PM.

I had the same feelings at first for the trackball, but quickly got used to it, and I actually prefer it now over the trackwheel.

I only hope RIM has worked on the quality of the device. The old 7230 and 7290 were super robust. The 8700 is ok, but the trackwheel is getting worn out after some time. The same applies to the PEARLS trackwheel. Really good and easy to use once you got it, but worn out after a few month.need a screenshot of your Blackberry? wanna present? create a video?

I really like the way the 8800 looks, and given the opportunity I would probably get one. But having the pearl in the past it just seems like it would be a wider pearl.
Don't get me wrong, the reason I gave up the pearl was because of the lack of QWERTY. So when this device comes out with the camera I will probably try to get it.Liv - 02-19-2007, 07:10 PM #7
I went into a Cingular store today and was able to get some hands on time with the 8800. I really like it. The keyboard seems to be just a little more compressed than the 8700, but I found it just as easy to type on due to the way the keys are set up. It is very similiar to the Pearl is most all other ways. Felt like a good solid device. I'll be looking forward to getting one.
