New Message Indicator Won't Go Away

I read all of this and a battery pull and reinsert ended up working for me - no more new SMS msg indicator.

While this MAY be a repeat, here's what my new best friend (a smart gal in tech support for verizon wireless) wrote me to try (and I didn't have to):

"Have you tried to choose "mark prior read"? Also check any saved messages by going into messages, then "view saved messages" to see if you have any there that are unread. If that doesn't work remove and reinsert battery. If that doesn't work you might have to "wipe the handheld" which you'll first have to backup all your data through the BB Desktop Manager and then restore everything back to the phone. "

Thanks for the help! You guys make it so easy to solve problems. I'd accidentally saved an email prior to deleting it and couldn't get the new message indicator icon to go away... all fixed now!

oh i got it finallly!! i dont if it has been posted...
go to sms inbox -> options -> check SMS And MMS -> then you might see other messages unchecked in your inbox =)

See attached, it's how it look like.

I've pressed "U" in both my SMS/MMS and email inbox (which is the shortcut for Unread messages), but it says there's no unread messages in the list.

I have been getting this all day. Whenever I get a new Text message or Email I get that little star icon notification, and then when I read them, the Notification will not go away. Now when I am sending messages the Message menu is getting screwed up on one of my contacts. I have to keep hitting Alt I or Alt O for it to re-adjust to normal. I have done battery pull after battery pull all from this stupid Notification icon. I have even pressed the U button and it shows up as No unread.

I checked out the 9930 at Costco today...all I can say is WOW on the keyboard! the keys weren't as stiff, and the screen isn't that small ,but I couldn't play with it, but the way my fingers breezed through the keys I am just in Awwwee!! Come on AT&T!!!

thanks sooooo much!!!! It was definitely in my saved mail folder! An email I never even received on my phone was in my saved folder!!! Thanks so much! A Big help! I never would have looked in there!
