Forgot my keyboard lock password! HELP

Will the attempt counter reset at some point or will it forever remember that I have already tried eight times?

It will reset when you either get the password right or get it wrong two more times thus wiping the phone.

I'm currently on attempt 5. I had my phone in my jersey while biking today and sweat got into the keyboard causing some letters to not type correctly. I'm keeping it in a bag of rice now to try to absorb the moisture but if that doesn't do it, can I plug it into the computer and unlock it from the Blackberry Desktop software? I do know my password; I just can't get the keyboard to type it right.

Btw, this is on my Bold 9000 but I'm posting on here because this seems to be a broader issue and this is a bigger thread.
