Default Curve 8310 3.5 audio jack into 8800?

I broke my usb port last night and my 8800 cannot charge anymore. I had to use my Curve 8310 which has trackball issues but only as a temp phone until I get the 8800 fixed. My question today is since I'm taking apart my 8800 to resolder a new USB port and my audio jack doesn't work, I wonder if I could do the same for the audio jack but with a 3.5mm one from a Curve.

BlackBerry 8800/8820/8830 OEM headphone jack - - Cellular Accessories - 3G, Sony, Panasonic, LG,

BlackBerry Curve 8300/8310/8320 OEM headphone jack - - Cellular Accessories - 3G, Sony, Panasonic,

different parts... at least they look different

dont know how in depth your soldering skills are but any modification might not let the housing be put back on proper

I would however take a close look at the current solder connections on the main board, maybe one came lose or has cracked a bit.. you could maybe just do a touch up.

Hhhmmm. I will take apart the phone and snap some pics. The reason why I want a 3.5mm is I don't want to spend the money on the 2.5 to 3.5mm converter. =/

I'm interested in what you do.
I too would like a 3.5mm on my 8800 instead of the 2.5.
