Default Connecting to Gmail

I have purchased a 8820 from work as they have now upgraded all of the company phones. This is for my own personal use. I want to send and recieve my Gmail over the comapny and my home wifi but I can't get it to work. I have tried the gmail app and tried to connect via the google home page via the browser but that keeps bumming out as it says too many requests.

I am in the UK on orange and do have 500meg per month as part of my contract.

Any solutions?

There are two types of data that you need to be aware of. These are Generic TCP for smartphones, and BIS for BlackBerry phones.

The Gmail application uses generic TCP data rather than BlackBerry data. Have you entered the APN in the Options > Advanced Settings > TCP ?

According to Google, you can also use BlackBerry data. To do this, enter the Google IMAP settings in the BlackBerry email setup for Private Email (BIS). As your phone came from work, it may have an IT Policy that prevents this from being done. You can remove an IT policy using CrackBerry.

As there are two different types of data it is important to know - which contract do you have with Orange?
