Default completley lost on my 8800

I have read through some of the posts and the first one i am mostly interested in regarding the BB MAPS loading. I tried to go the link that was posted i think was T-Mobile8800 but it did not work. I have a brand new 8800 with i think the latest sw when i swtch it on it comes up with a big red screen voda fone and then when i get in to the desktop icons i switch on bluetooth and try and suck down the maps that i have on my desk top(i think) but my blue tooth on my pc pairs but it does not give me the option to file share. I can connect to other fones vi bluetooth but not the 8800, ihave even disabled the security as i thought that might be the problem. Phew now to cut a long story short i would like to get the gprs working and display the maps so that i may navigate around the midlands area using my 8800 and would like a 8800 guru to assist me on acheiving this task. Can we start from basics please as i do not have any pre 8800 knowledge. Also do i need a data lead to transfer files from computer to 8800 or is bluetooth safice. Thanking u very much in advance for your kind help.

Thank you

Just a suggestion before you send a 8800 guru running screaming into the hills, arms aloft.

Prior to attempting to zoom around the British countryside with your trusty map displaying BB in one hand, I suggest you get an early night and first read the 8800's manual

Then having learnt the very basics, move onto asking questions/finding out more about the application downloading, installing, looking at the compatibility of software etc.

Get Google Maps. I like it much better than BB maps.

I thought the whole idea of this site was to help all the wonderful people of the BB world. Posts like that will scare people off, some people are manual readers when was the last time you bought a new car and read the manual the nubmers would be very few

Uhhh...I read the manual for our new minivan on the way home from the dealer. My wife got to drive first, of course. When you bought your car, did you run back into the dealership and ask them to teach you how to drive it?

This site IS here to help people. We (well, _I_, I don't want to pretend to speak for anyone else) encourage n00bs to educate themselves rather than having information spoon-fed to them. Teach a man to fish, etc...Most newbie questions have been answered 100 times over on this site, so the information is available for those who want it. I post on several different boards, and I can't think of a single one that encourages new people to pop on and say "hi im new tell me everything i need to know about my new device i know nothing about i dont like to read hahahaha" Actually, CB.com is one of the most hospitable sites around, IMO.

Also, posting styles vary, but you get more mileage when your posts are at least punctuated and comprehensible. Run-on sentences make my eyes bleed.

Ah, I haven't had a good rant in awhile. Pardon me if I seem crotchety. And get off my lawn!
