Browser problem.. =/

I have the same problem in certain areas here in Europe. For instance in a mall it says connected , but wifi does not light up although the Modem shows on my phone.

I can also ping the modem but BB browser just freezes and it gives me " you must be connected to the internet error "

Works find when I get home and to other cafes etc inc my gym only problem in some places ??
help
