Default Battery Problem?

I just got an 8800 from ebay. I am changing it but it is showing a battery image on the screen with a red line through it. Is this normal or is the battery bad?

That's not normal. It is either a dead battery or a defective charging circuit. Try another battery, or another charger. If neither fix it, you may have a defective device.

Might have been moisture damage. When my 8820 got left outside the whole night in the rain I did the rice trick and I thought it would worked. After about a month in the rice the phone was completly dry so I tried charging it again. Didn't work. The same battery icon appeared on my screen. I even tried it with a different battery, charger you name it I did.

Check the moisture indicator on the battery. If the box is completely red then the device has been exposed to moisture
