8820 WIFI problem

Hi All

I have an old 8820. It's a great hp.
However, there is this problem where it shows that WIFI is connected but whenever I go into the browser there is a msg whch say that there is no connectivity to the internet. I wipe out the phone and reloaded the OS. Intially managed to get into a netional free wifi and homne BroadBand wif some dialogue to get into the keystore thing. Subsequently can't log into the internet although wifi is connected. Anyone can help?

This may be of little help, but on my old 8820 sometimes I'd get a message saying that I "wasn't in an area that could handle data" but if I just hit the menu key and typed in a web address under "Go To" it worked anyway.
