3G compatible SIM CARD not working 8820

i've just bought a 8820 t-mobile from US
and im trying to use it in Singapore and its not going so well.
it shows invalid sim card whenever i use my sim card when i use a 2g sim card it works fine. please help me on this.

my carrier : STARHUB
SIM CARD : 3g Compatible
Model : 8820
Phone UNLOCKED

Iuse my tmobile bold 9700 sim in my 8700 and it works. Its a 3G enabled phone so I believe your problem might be an international problem. This probably didn't answer your question but the 8820 isn't a 3G phone, but a sim is a sim so that shouldn't matter. Sorry
