I bought one as a upgrade from my 7290 before I upgraded to the pearl. I liked it because I didn't have to answer calls with that track wheel.

I got this 8700c because it was just about the only phone that did not have a camara and could still do email I think it makes calls better than most phones I've had since the old "bag phone" days.

8703e, I LOVE this phone, first blackberry, it started out as lust and has grown into love over the last 8 months. I don't plan on upgrading ever unless they keep the full keyboard and track wheel.

Got a used 8700c for Christmas. A friend who works at AT&T gave it to me Christmas Eve. He was on his way out of town and didn't have time to wipe it. It also had a rebooting problem. He said he could fix it when he returned, but I didn't want to wait a week. He knows I'm a computer geek, so he felt I could deal with it. With advice from the tutorial of saving a "nuked" BlackBerry and John Clark pointing me in the right direction, I got this thing working perfectly. The tutorial got rid of the rebooting cycle, and I also got rid of the IT policy that was on it. Although I've worked on computers since the early 80s, first in sales and later as a tech in IT, this is my first smartphone. I've found the 8700 to be much like a computer and I love it. It's working in perfect harmony with my self-built 2-Core Duo. I've seen postings on taking BBs apart, and that might be my next hobby. All in all, this is a great device and the phone functions as it should. I really love the qwerty keyboard for IM. Beats my old cellphone to pieces.

I owned a 7290, then 8700 and then a 8800. 7290, was nce but upgraded to 8700. The 8700, dependable along with my extended battery and couple of main apps. Then I got a 8800, upgraded from the 8700 but kept it just in case. My 8800 was nice but slow and piece began falling off, so reverted back to the 8700 - dependable, thats all I can say. The device has not let me down the last few years, and I think I will stay with my 8700 until it becomes as obsolete as the initial blackberries created!!!

I picked up my BB after using a Nextel 7100i. Did not like un-suretype and wanted to switch to a network that was in my area. Now my wife has the 8830 world edition or whatever but it is very cheap. I wanted one when she first got it, but we are on the second phone because the usb ports are very very weak. My 8700 may be big, but it is a rock solid brick and I like the way it feels when I type on it.

I originally chose the 8703e because I have Verizon and it seemed like the best option (without having to splurge on the 8800) for the features I wanted. I quickly fell in love with it and our affair lasted almost 6 months before I was seduced by the shiny new 8130.

However, I couldn’t bring myself to sell my trusty 8703e and just today had it activated for my 13 year old son. I think it’s a perfect fit. He’ll have a solid device to learn the Crackhead way of life and the BB is rugged enough to survive his education.

I love it for the qwerty keyboard, and the 3G features. I love it for the form factor, it does not look anything like the conventional flip phone.

8700 was my first broken virgin! I upgraded from 8700g to 8320. So, simply saying, BEST The virgin 8700 EVER! I admit you, My heart is still connect/bond within 8700 muchmore than curve for this truth. I refused to selling my virgin 8700g for entire rest.

I got my 8700g about three years ago and i haven't turned back ever since. For some reason i can't seem to get tired of it. I make my own wallpapers, ringtones, and themes all for free when ever i'm bored; and every time it feels like i got a new phone.

ive had every single blackberry verizon offered. The 8703e is by far the best one,and heres the reasons why...........

built tough-ive dropped it so many times and it wont break.
scroll wheel- i can shoot off texes and emails so fast without repositioning my fingers for a track ball.
best keyboard- hands down, this is the best keyboard i have ever used on ANY phone.
speakerphone- every one can hear me clearly,no problem. loudest ringers and alarms of all the blackberries at vzw.
ive wiped it and reinstalled different os's without any failures...
im currently using 4.1 so i dont get the slowdown of 4.2!!!!!!!!!!!

its simple, efficiant, sturdy and gets the job done!!!!!!!!!

I got the 8700 cause its a big phone with style. The newer Blackberrys are all so much smaller and I like the spread out keyboard on the 8700. Plus it comes apart easy and takes paint well, lol.

My 8700c was my first foray into the Blackberry World...and it looks to be my last. No, not in the negative way but in the positive way.

Indestructible - I've dropped it more times than i can remember and even dropped it while riding my motorcycle on the freeway.

Keyboard - by far the most superior implementation of a pda keyboard. the keys are spaced just far enough for precise 2 thumb typing but small enough to be compact. The buttons also produce very good feedback.

Wheel - the trackball, at this point can die for all i care. the wheel provides excellent 1 handed operation and is very precise.

Holster - love the swivel plastic holster. which makes quick draw fast and easy.

I really doubt the curve, 8800 could handle the type of punishment i have dealt to my 8700.

I wish for the following upgrades:
    wifi
    sd card
3g (8707 may be in the future)
    gps receiver
