that will allow me to 'hide' my number on outgoing calls so it shows up as 'private' or 'restricted' to the caller?

append *67 to the number you are dialing...it will come up restricted on receivers end.

The other thing that you can do is phone your cell phone provider ( I mean, sprint, t-mobile, at&t or else) and ask them to hide your phone number. That's what I did a few years ago and at no cost to do it.
