SMS texting question - need help

How do you text to ex. 88888?
It appears I can only text to a number within my address book...?

At the very top of your address book there should be an entry of [Use once]. Click on that and it will allow you to text either to a phone # or email add. without having to add the contact.

just type the number while on home screen, press the options icon and it will give an option of sms to that number. Hope this helps.
