I followed have my 8700g with t-mobile running with 4.5.0.81. Be sure you follow the instructions. Specifically MATCH the version of the desktop software. Here is one way to do it wrong. Update to the absolute latest which is 4.6 for the desktop. That was at least true on Sep 25, 08. Then if you download the new ap. It will not find it or prompt you even though you have removed the Vendor.xml file, per the instructions. A tip though. Accessing multimedia can be slow. So don't panic if you see the hour glass and you think you are off in never never land. It is also good advice to switch back to a stock theme before the upgrade, just in case.

H upgraded my curve to 4.5 and was very pleased. My only concern is that this will slow down my 8703. Any thoughts?

I have a Curve 8310 and upgraded it to this version a couple of days ago.

    I also have a 8700C I want to update.

Can I use the same update I used for the Curve on my 8700C? That one is already available on my pc from the Curve update.

No, you will have to delete that one and download the compatible one to the 8700.

I'm a little confused. I have the latest version of Desktop Manager, and followed the firections, but the new 4.5 OS is not seen by DM. Should I downgrade to anolder version of Desktop Manager?

The DM does not matter. Did you follow the install instructions completely? Download OS to PC and then run the OS to PC. After that, did you delete the vendor.xml file?

Yes it will work. Just make sure you follow the directions exactly and do not forget to delete the vendor file. Do not unplug it until it says its completed successfully no matter what it does.

I have a VZW 8703e...I followed the instructions, but can't get the AppLoader to recognize any of the updates? If I browse to the folder with the 4.5 files and select, it says "No additional applications designed for your device were found"

I deleted the Vendor.xml file, and followed the instructions exactly.

    Help!

Hi, Upgraded my ATT 8700c last night with no problem. I had to do one more step than listed, which was restore using "backup/restore" - but maybe that's implied.

This upgrade looks good, It will keep me happy for the next 2 weeks waiting for the Storm to come out.

    Thanks OP!

    It works!
I have 8700v on vodafone Romania I just did the update and it works, although the phone is somewhat slower with the new software. But who cares, I can copy files on it now
It scared me a bit, it showed me the hourglass for around 20 minutes, but I waited for it and eventually it continued the upgrade.
    Again, thank you.
