Default Help with 8700g please!

Hello all, I am new to BBs so bear with me on this.

I got a used 8700 from my gf to repair (had the 570 error). Fixed that, and popped my Tmo sim card in... to see "no service" whats the deal? tried the same sim on my iPhone 3gs and it works... any ideas? I figured i should at least be able to call/text.
