Battery and power
I have a friend with a Sprint Blackberry 8730. His battery is bulging. He's going to get a new battery. But we were wondering if you could turn the phone on just with the power hooked up to it.

Not really, you can start the installation process for an OS install without a battery in the device with the USB cord plugged in to a PC, but you can not run the device with a OS installed on the device without a battery in it.

My post has nothing to do with the installation of an OS. All I want to know is if the phone will power-on and work without the battery.

Seems like he answered. He said no, you cannot run the device without a battery if it already has an installed os.
