I've always liked the 8703e. The case, the feel. its always fit into my rugged lifestyle. I lost my iphone 4, and since i'm not paying the deductable and my contract is almost over, I decided to play around and re-activate my old phone. A bit of project, but i'm happy where i'm at. No camera though. but i have my work n personal emails on there. Facebook, and my youmail ( im having some problems though) on there. Question though...where can get apps for the 8703e? I remember there were some that were out there but i've googled with no sucess.

You need to find the .jad files. Not sure how many repositories still exist.

Haha my 8700g just completely died last December. I don't know how but I kept on getting a JVM error and when I looked behind the battery, the water damage sticker indicator was pink!

Anyway, I managed to download Facebook and Twitter on it. I think I had to download BlackBerry World for BBOS 4.5 or something. Oh yeah, you might want to upgrade to 4.5 if you hadn't already. Haha

God, I really miss that scrollwheel now. And the flashing blue arrows indicating data transfer, which I think is useful nowadays with the privacy stuff happening and all lately.

update...after some researching. I managed to put my voicemail on there. I used youmail before with no sucess on the 8703e. this was a major issue. So I tried the earlier Vymail with seemingly sucess. Thanks Joe Krill. updated to 4.5 ( thanks ThunderShock2005) and still looking for repositories for any other apps (thanks pkcable) 8703e Retro...bringing it back...Looking for apps.-photo.jpg

they have a ton of apps...my experience is it's trial n error. They're .jad files, and would need to be converted. some have worked for me...some haven't .

I miss this phone! I used it for years. It was probably my favorite and most reliable Blackberry. I'm sure mine is still working.

Nice! I still use my 8700g on a daily basis with BBOS 4.5. Just love the trackwheel =) As for apps, got Twitter and Facebook. Still trying to get CaptureNux to work with it.

I wish that I still had a working 87xx series phone. This was my favorite BlackBerry. I am envious that you guys still have yours and are using them consistently.

yeah. I LOVE this phone... i was posting earlier that the only reason i switched was that the 8703e didn't support mms messaging... All the newest smart phones do, and automatically use them as their presets. I would miss important text from friends and work. I'm still contemplating reactivating...i was playing with it today as a matter of fact...LOL

I've got a few of these at home if anyone is interested in one. Might need to buy a new battery since they've been sitting in a box for years. Cover the shipping and you can have one. I've got the stands and holsters too.

Hey, by any chance you still have any left? Interested in one of those as it was my first blackberry. Thanks

The 8703e is still hands down my favorite phone that I ever owned. I have one at the house but it is dead. I wish I had a working model that was compatible with ATT (I think the 8700g maybe? Idk) -- I would add a line to my account just to use it.
