I purchased a used one on ebay and can't set up email account b/c the fool did not wipe out the account. I get a message displaying an account already exists for this acccount. called at&t - no help! If I do a hard reset (wipe handheld) - might this solve this issue? Thanks for any help!

I'm having the same problem. Did the hard reset solve it? Hove you found other options?
Hard reset doesn't do it...I had to take the device to the at&t store and had a sales rep call blackberry support...explained the problem and they wiped the phone over the computer. Took about 45 minutes but now everything is up and running.
