I just purchased a 7130e off Ebay to replace my old one that died (separate post.) I'm on Verizon. If I go through the Verizon website to download the most current version of Desktop Software, it gives me Version 4.2.1.

It appears the most current version available on Blackberry's own website is Version 4.6 for the 7130e.

Blackberry's website gives the message that if I didn't purchase the device from RIM, I should check with my service provider to see what versions are supported.

Is that message/warning for good reason, or just some CYA? Are there some bells and whistles in Version 4.6 I would benefit from and should I go ahead and download it. Or will it likely cause me some problems and should I stick with Verizon's 4.2.1?

    Thanks.

The best to use would be the 4.2 actually because its the most compatible and if you ever have to call into tech support thats what they want you to be using.
