Unable to enter unlock code, MEPDD not response
I have a 7100g from Cingular.
I go to the menu-Options-Advanced-Sim card, press Shift and enter MEPDD but it not display the locking categories at all so I can't continue to the next step.
Any idea what is wrong? I updated the sw to the latest v4.1. - 03-28-2009, 04:54 PM #4
You do not need to press shift. Once the card screen is up, I believe all you need to type is:
mepd
Then it should show you what is active and what is disabled. - 03-28-2009, 08:40 PM #5

That's it. Once you enter a legitimate code for your device, all that shows active, should show as disabled.

To be honest, it's been so long since I unlocked mine, I can't remember. There are threads here that show step by step how to unlock it once you have the code. Just search for them, and follow instructions exactly, and you should be fine.

Hi
Below are the 2 sets of instructions I got. Neither of which worked. The only thing that has worked is mepd that you said. Does anything there look familiar to you?
Thanks again and in advance for your help
David
To Unlock:
1. On the Home screen, click the Tools icon. The Options screen appears.
2. In the tools screen, select the Settings icon.
3. Scroll to SIM Card and select it. You should see the phone number and the SIM ID number.
4.Type ‘mepp2' to display the dialog box asking for the unlock code(Press the Alt + 2 key to get the number 2) ( you will not see textappear on screen while typing )
5. Input the SIM Unlock code
6. Press in the jog dial once
The second set:
1 Insert SIM into device
2 Power phone on and Turn off the radio (Turn Wireless Off option) VERY IMPORTANT.
3 Select "Options" then select ADVANCED OPTIONS
4 Scroll down and select "SIM Card"
5 Type MEPPD to display the first five levels of SIM locking.(you will not see the word appear on screen while typing)
6 Hold ALT key and press MEPP2
7 It will say "Enter Network MEP Code", then you type in the SIM Unlock code (it will be 16 or 8 digits long)
8 Press enter ( phone will says CODE ACCEPTED )
9 Reboot device. Device is now unlocked - 03-29-2009, 02:14 PM #10
Okay, try this if you already have the unlock code.
1. Options>Advanced Options> SIM Card
2. Type MEPD
3. Type MEP2
4 Enter your unlock code.
That should do the trick.
That is what worked for my 8310 on AT&T
Other than that I can't help you. Good Luck
Let me know if it works or not.Last edited by TheLiveSoundGuy; 03-29-2009 at 02:27 PM.

Does it prompt you for a code when you pop in another carrier's SIM in the phone ?
