thinking of buying a used 7100T

for my son from ebay as he has destroyed two better blackberrys this year (college kid). my question is will blackberry messenger work on this phone? does it have to be downloaded? here is the description of the phone:

Yea BBM should work fine. He's probably going to whine and cry when he sees a 7100t, totally not cool. LOL

he wasn't thrilled but did use it. bbm worked great. now phone is not working. people call and they can't hear each other. don't want to return as he doesn't want to re-enter all the bbm numbers. audio is working somewhere in the device as he can play back voice mail. any help would be greatly appreciated.

is there a way to sync those bbm numbers to a tmobile sim card??
