Okay..two things!!!!
1st...the icon is in the messages...its for new software from the guys who make flash light..
2nd...did you know that you can press the blackberry button on your phone when in messages and on the date bar, select "mark prior read" and it will clear all the notifications...

Thanks. I thought the icon looked like the light so I started the app and it didn't offer an upgrade. Also checked with app world, nothing. Strange.

I forgot to update this thread. I finally found the notification. As you indicated, it was from the flashlight app. What's odd is where the notification was hiding. The only way I could get to it was by using "View Folder", which is accessed from the menu when you are in a messaging application (email or sms). The flashlight app, as well as other apps have folders in there, along with the other messaging applications (BES, BIS, SMS. MMS). I really wonder what the BB OS developers were smoking when they came up with this idea. "View Folder" has got to be one of the worst ergonomic features of BB OS. Regarding your second point, I have used mark prior read, but if you actually want to read the notification, you have to be able to find it in the first place!
