Uncaught Exception after re-boot
Hi Guys,
Just got a Playbook and it's all going well except for BBM isn't working over Bridge (chats aren't showing up on the PB). I've checked everything is up to date and done hard resets but to no avail. What I did notice was that progress bar never went away after Blackberry Bridge installed on my phone (bold 9790) and I was also getting the "uncaught exception: java.lang.Error" after rebooting it which I never used to get.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this...? Both my phone and PB are working fine apart from the BBM bridge issue. Would like to avoid a clean install if possible but I am backed up.
Thanks in advance,
MellfeeI used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure....

Must be an app.
Try uninstalling the app that caused the un caught exception.Believe in BlackBerry, fool! - 12-30-2012, 07:38 AM

Tried uninstalling and re-installing from the phone only and this didn't work. Tried doing it from Desktop Manager and it kept failing to complete. Eventually I got the Repair option. I figured a re-install of everything wouldn't hurt but now I have the Error code 507.
I back up reasonably regular and never have issues but now it's not talking to it very well at all. I'll persevere and see how I get on.I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure....

OK....
Took me all day but I now have the OS back on my phone with everything working fine, including Blackberry Bridge BBM chats....
It crapped out on me while trying to update it through desktop manager and wouldn't take a repair. I tried about six times choosing OS 7.1 but it wouldn't work. Eventually chose 7.0 (not sure which build) and it worked on the second attempt. I then chose the update. Part way through the Error 507 flashed up but then it kept going and finally made it. As far as I can tell everything is stable. Got all my data back and am as happy as a clam, as they say....
Thanks for any help!

I've got this uncaught exception aswell, it's a pain and can no longer open any three of my tasks apps. I'll wait for 7.1.0.8xx if it comes and see if that sorts it.

That's not normal. With a little bit of research you should be able to get it fixed

Yes my phone and PB are now working great.
Ben, as a start do you know when the uncaught exception started? If it is since you installed an app can you try un-installing and re-installing it?
Better yet, are you in a position where you can back your phone up and re-install the whole operating system...?I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure....

Uncaught Exception after re-boot
It has been on my Bold for a couple of months & only see it when rebooting. Something has exacerbated my BB as these past two days I'm unable to open tasks which I'm usually using many times throughout the day.
I will have to look & delete the last apps I downloaded one by one to find the culprit.
I'm not able to update to a different OS as yet but will soon.
I'm glad you managed to fix your uncaught exception dilemma. - 01-03-2013, 06:43 AM #10
To fix uncaught exception or not to get that error DO NOT shrink MemoPad, Tasks and Event Log viewer (also Voice Notes Recorder & Voice Activated Dialing) while installing OS.
