Default Phone battery could not charge via USB

My BB Torch 9850 suddenly wouldn't charge. It said that USB port wouldn't charge it, despite no memory loss from the last reboot. I did a MeterBerry reboot, and it began working again. Never saw that before with a Pearl or Tour, and older OS. Wondering if this was a fluke, or if it just happens sometimes and the reboot always fixes.

I have a 9850 and this happens to me all the time. When I connect my charger, sometimes I see that the charging bolt over the battery icon doesn't appear. Instead it looks like a usb connector icon and it doesn't charge. Disconnecting it on and off doesn't do anything.

I've found that if I do a battery pull it will allow charging to begin again.

How often does it happen? It happened once to me now since Sept. when I got the phone. Does it happen daily, weekly, or sporadically? thanks.

Try a different usb port, preferebly one that is mounted on motherboard.(this will be on the back of the computer where you plug in the monitor)

Might have slightly higher voltage and trigger the charging circuit

I came to the forum looking for this exact issue. I got that message on my 9850 this morning when I plugged it in. I wish I had taken a screenshot but I was so surprised that I didn't think about it till later.

The most surprising thing is that I was using the USB wall charger/cable that came with the phone. Unplugged it and tried again... still no charge indication. I did a QuickLaunch reboot and all is OK again. Hope we get a new OS update soon. The newest VZW one seems a bit buggy.
