BlackBerry Bold® 9930 using Tapatalk | Battery life was horrible yesterday. Phone was turned on around 7:30am and I went to school, then work - not a lot of usage during the day. I called my mom twice then went to work. At 9pm my battery was in the red with no bars, radio off. 7.1 sucks for me. My battery sucks and it's so disappointing.

I upgraded the OS to .205 and my battery life has improved greatly. I charged my phone full at 1AM last night, woke up for work and the phone was still charged. I didn't hit 50% until later in the afternoon.
As compared to the battery life with the official software update, The battery life drained quickly. I am glad that .205 helped me out big time...Definitely swayed my decision on whether or not I should keep the phone.

I've had .205 for a few weeks now and find it better for battery usage than the stock .296 and updated .458
7.1 is worth the update.

I am seeing similar battery life on 7.1 as I did with the stock 7.0 on my Sprint 9930.
My current discharge rate is 2.54% per hr using Blackberry Device Analyzer.
I have approximately 20 apps downloaded and of those apps, I use Twitter, Facebook, ScoreMobile, TheWeatherChannel daily. With some game play and other apps used occasionally.
I have my ScoreMobile set to refresh every 1 Min when open and every 20 Min when hidden, Facebook is set to update every Hour, and Twitter every 30 Min.
I did not have ScoreMobile or TheWeatherChannel app downloaded when I wa son 7.0.

BlackBerry Bold® 9930 using Tapatalk | Yesterday I gave it a full charge when I got to work and pulled it off at 9am.
It has not been charged since then and right now (2:33 PM), I am sitting at 30%.
It was never turned off or anything during this period.
So right now, I am sitting at 29+ hours on this charge.

How much of that is with WIFi on?
Can you look at you Application Management App and tell me how much usage there is or you can just take a screen shot. Thanks

BlackBerry Bold® 9930 using Tapatalk | Yes, you are correct in the WIFI usage. I am connected to WIFI while are work and home, so probably on average 21 hours out of the day, my phone has WIFI on and is connected to a network. I use the app Wi-Fi Manager to automatically turn my wifi on and off when I am in designated areas that I assign such as Home and Work.
Looking at my Usage over the past 2 days, I have used my phone for a little over 2 hours, so not heavy at all. On average, I use my phone for 1 hr to 2 hrs a day.

Cool, your battery life seems normal for all that wifi usage. Using your phone for 2hrs in a 24+hr day is considered light usage.
I rarely have wifi availability and I am a 3-5 hour a day usage user, which calls for me to be a battery swapper some days. No biggie.
I usually have a 3-4% DRH.

oddly enough i had a rate of almost 5% for the first 2 weeks or so after i installed the 7.1.0.205 os. then as of a couple days ago it went down to 3.5 ish. while i was satisfied before im very happy now.
if you ask me if i deleted some apps well i gradually wen through and deleted the ones i never used but didn't see any drain rate change immediately after deleting them so...

I installed the 7.1.0.205 a couple of weeks back and don't see much difference with the previous 7.1.0. version.
It's been an issue since the release of the 9900 and are starting to think that maybe they should of produced a more power packing battery to the device with respect to the technical aspects of the device everything from the hardware to the software and additional apps that will be D/L by the user and of course the most draining wifi connectivity.
Lets wait and see how they will manage because the OS maybe can be effective to a certain limit.

Off the charger at 05:00, yesterday:
Next pic continues battery usage:
Indicates the higher percentage after heavy activity the last hour:
Even at 9% with red warning I could have went longer.
But, anything over 15 hours and I'm good. Anyway, believe it or not, it is what it is. 7.1 is worth it.

Bold 9900 running OS 7.1.0.267
Generally I get under 2% discharge rate, although I don't use Facebook or twitter, and I have the battery saver mode on all the time (not sure what this does but haven't noticed any difference).
While bridging it to my playbook and browsing the web/crackberry I found I was getting discharge rates of about 6%.
All this was checked using the Device Analyzer, which as far as I can tell has been accurate.
