Hey I've always wondered what actually changes when you change these options as whatever I change them to, nothing seems to change when playing a song, it always looks the same, what are these options for?

It is for closed captions. Uncheck "Display Closed Captions" and everything below it goes away.

I think it is for videos and/or podcasts. I've never ran into a closed caption situation yet... nor have I ever used or watched a podcast on my device.
