How can I browse the intranet with a 9810 with BES and OS7?
Hi there! I've got yet another noob question.
I migrated from the 8900 (EDGE, trackball and running BBOS5) to the nice 9810 (4G, running BBOS7). BOTH are connected with BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server).
Back when I had the 8900 and I was using BB OS5, I could go to the browser options and select between 3 distinct browser "modes":
- Hotspot browser: for navigating within a wi-fi hotspot without using the carrier's data plan.
- Internet browser: for regular browsing with the dataplan or wi-fi if available.
- Blackberry browser: to access the internet through the company's gateway. The GOOD: I had access to the company's INTRANET. The BAD: contents could be blocked by company's filtering software (WebSense). I used this mode a LOT to do transactions within the company's intranet.
Then in September I got me a nice 9810 Torch and noticed that the new OS7 browser, although WAY better than the old OS5 from my 8900, has not this option.
So, I've got a great new phone with a nice browser and a big screen with which I can visit any external site and be greeted by great graphics and lose time in general... but now I can't access my company's intranet site for work transactions.
Anyone know how to solve this?Last edited by ramocan; 11-15-2011 at 08:07 AM.

7290 -> 8320 -> 8900 (Lost!
) -> 8520 -> 9810 OS7.1.0.694 and would love to have hotspot enabled by my carrier...

Is your phone with BES? BES has native VPN support so it doesn't matter if you are connected with wifi or not, you should always be able to access your intranet. I have no problem with browsing my company's intranet on my 9810. You probably should check with your BES admin to see why you can't browse intranet.

Go to your browser start page and where it says "Type search or address," type in "intranet." Then click on the green arrow below (not the magnifying glass that says "Search for").
