ShutUp camera has worked very well on my 9900. No compromise in resolution and actually uses the camera for the pic as opposed to a screen shot. Does exactly what I want it to.

+1 for ShutUp Camera. Works perfect and like a previous poster said it uses the native camera. here's a link to it.

Oh man, why did they have to do that and now you have to buy a camera app just so you dont have to hear the snapping sound? anyway thanx for recommending the apps guys.

BTW I compared the photos to the ones captured with my iphone3GS. IT seems iPhone takes better picture and it only has a puny 2MP camera compared to 9900 5MP. So Why is that? Maybe it uses a better sensor or higher ISO sensitivity? BB picture look more dark and full of noise, on low light environments.

Also i read BB doesn't have Autofocus. Is AF a Hardware or software issue? Meaning maybe the default camera program doesn't offer Autofocus but a third party could?

Autofocus is a hardware issue.
The 9900 camera is awful compared to the competition, but I have a hard time believing it takes worse images than a 2 megapixel shooter.
Not many apps to control picture controls like ISO, exposure, HDR etc. In fact none that I found.
