Default BBOS 7 Browser/hide as different browser?

    correct forum?

    Hi,

I am missing on the browser to "hide" as a different browser.

My last device was the 9000 before moving to 9900. The 9000 was running OS5 but I never used the BB Browser and can not remember if this option was still on OS5. I think the option was in OS 4.6

I am missing this as I have a few websites which relink me to their mobile site and one of this sites has no "classic" etc. link on it so I can visit their normal website. Sadly their mobile site sucks as there is no comment option

With MiniOpera 5 I never had the problem.

You mean Emulate, not hide. Either way, the option has been replaced with automatic selection. You will not be able to change the emulation anymore. Happened in OS 6 and will continue this way for the foreseeable future.

sorry - not my first language but I would probably named/called it wrong in my first languages too xD

    I was afraid of this.

    Dam.. it

I really would like to know why they do such things.

Oh probably the websites/companies ask them (as they can sell a mobile version etc. if we can not use the normal website... ??? )

RIM does such things often, isn't it? Like Skype/Mobile Hotspot - which carrier usually really dislike.

Most mobile websites have a link to view the full version of the site. I just click on that link if the mobile site comes up. For sites I visit frequently I save a bookmark with the URL for the full (non moblie) site.

you are right and in the past I saw such a link on the mobile version of the site but not on the 9900. I think there was also a way to force it with "#no mobile" (not exact but similar) on the MiniOpera 4.2 I think (never had to use this with a newer version)
