| | 7.1 internet
I was on a 9650, bought a 9930, had it for a few days was worried about it bricking on me and returned it, went back to 9650 and now I'm on a Razr.
If I'm being honest, I'm sick of IOS and Android, so I'm really pulling for Blackberry. I don't play games, or install apps. I use it mostly for heavy email and txt and to make calls.
However, one thing that I'd like to use it for is the Internet. When I had the 9930 running on OS7, the internet seemed no different than OS 6, which seemed no different than OS5. Going to yahoo was no problem, but once you get past that, the thing just locks up, is real slow, etc.
Has any of this been improved in OS 7.1, or should I wait for BB10? I could be waiting until 2013 at that rate, because I think I'd want to wait for a BB10 device with keyboard. The internet on the Razr is real fast, now it is 4G, but if I put it on 3G, it's still real fast

there are two issues with internet and the blackberry. one is that webpages are not optimized for blackberry except a limited number of websites and then BB native browser is not ideal to say the least. there are a couple other browsers out there that work much better

I'll admit that OS6 is only a slight improvement (speedwise) over OS5, but the difference between OS6 and OS 7.x is night and day. the browser is great and it certainly is fast. I often will have multiple web pages open, even as many as 10, probably more, and pages load and function satisfactorily for me.
Of course, most of my browsing is via wifi, but I'm still happy with its performance via cellular.
I'm on verizon if that means anything to you.
I'm curious, what sites are you visiting that seem slow to you? I'll test them out for you versus the sites I visit regularly. Maybe your habits bring you to more intense websites and that's why we have such different experiences. Quote:

A mobile site is a mobile site, sites either have them, or they don't. they may have versions of their site more geared to specific devices; but if they do that, chances are they also have a standard mobile site.
Tell me the ideals that the BB OS 7.x browser is missing, please. I'm very happy with the way mine performs, but maybe I'm missing out.

bobaloo,
Nothing crazy as far as sites go, yahoo and google come up fast, but then searching on them the related sites come up slow. Sites like cnn.com, umm any type of forum site actually. Could very well be that they are not meant for mobile devices. Idk
I never use internet on wifi, so my experience is strictly through the provider.
All things said, I'll prob stay with the 9930 even though I want a BB10 Bold type device, unless I can get my 9930 through insurance
I was just curious as to what 3rd party browsers people are using because the one poster mentioned better browsers

I just testing CNN, which I rarely go to, only if someone links a story I might be intereted in.
I will say that it loads weird. It does have a mobile version. It is usable in less than 10 seconds via cellular, less than 5 seconds via wifi. But the progress bar does hang at about 75% for some reason, as long as 30 seconds even. Not sure what it's loading for so long, because it doesn't affect the page or the usability as far as I can tell. It doesn't even checkerboard.
