What is the fastest & most solid OS6 build for the 9800 yet?
I've decided to give the 9800 Torch another try...seeing my first experience with the phone was right at introduction, and I found the OS6 laggy & compared to my 9700. My romance with the Torch lasted three days...short & sweet.
I know I'll have to upgrade my stock OS6 build when I get the phone Monday...
So...what is the fastest, smoothest & most solid OS6 build (official or not) yet for the 9800 Torch? - 04-08-2011, 10:19 PM #2
If you don't care about official builds, try the most recent leak, 6.0.0.526. I've tried mostly all of them, and this one has been the best performing for me, next to .448.

.526 seems pretty smooth to me. Definitely worth the upgrade on your fresh Torch.

If it has improved, I haven't noticed. I burn through my battery pretty quickly to begin with, so you might want to ask a few others. I'm on the go all the time and my Berry doesn't get any downtime. Well, actually when I'm asleep.

Having great luck with .526 after previously rolling back .486 to an earlier build. Battery life is probably marginally better than .246, but overall phone performance is night and day, especially responsiveness of the browser. Between .526 and the six dot x theme, it feels like a new phone.

It improved for me. I unplug mine just before 7 am and am up until at least 12 at night or later and I'm usually 40 % left or better..once at 30% when I made some extra phone calls. Some I've seen say it's not good but I've seen many say it is better. I just know mine is and I refresh Twitter and Facebook as often as the settings allow all day, text, MLBAtBat as well as browse and just play around on the phone in general as I'm still learning stuff on it after a few weeks. So pretty decent use I think.

I disagree. I am having almost no issues with .526, other than the Crackberry mobile forums, which is more of a site issue than an OS issue. Other than that, I've not encountered any slow-downs, weird glitches, or anything of that nature. .486 was horrendous in that regard, and .448/.450 was pretty good.

Been running .450 since the day it was leaked and had zero issues with it. Very happy with this build, its solid, fast, and battery life is great. Not planning to update till the Torch 2 comes out

A lot of love for .528 I see. I am running .448 ("offical", and I use the term loosely) and have no issues whatsoever! My bb works like a champ... At this point I'm going with, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

.526 all the way, the fastest and most stable

Also in regards to .526 I later added the BBID work around to get the leaked BBM to work and at first it was fine but then started glitching in bbm and also lag on web browser so I deleted and reinstalled .526 only without the work around and all is well again

I too vote for/suggest .526. I moved to it 1 week ago. Previous to that I was on .450, another solid build. I find .526 to be very quick, very stable and VERY good on battery power. At least that is my experience. I unplugged my Torch at 7:20 am yesterday (Friday). Current battery level is 54% some 24.5 hours later. Meterberry is showing an avg discharge rate of 1.9%. I NEVER got that with any other build. (and yes I have been USING my BBerry
).

Thanks for the responses. Three questions...
1. Can someone provide me a link to .526?
2. For a fresh Torch, would most of you recommend over .448 for battery life and general performance?
3. Do any of these builds increase the volume level of the earpiece speaker for incoming calls? As I recall, that was an issue that caused me to return my Torch, since I have some hearing impairment. - 04-09-2011, 07:22 AM #19
1. link - http://forums.crackberry.com/f95/lea...ndings-601048/
2. Yes 526 is definitely better.
3. Nothing has improved that.Cell Phone History:Motorola Bag phone > Motorola Star Tac gen1 > Motorola Star Tac gen 2 > Motorola Razr > BlackBerry Pearl(8110) > Iphone gen1 > BlackBerry Curve(8310 Red) > BlackBerry Torch(9800 Black) > BlackBerry Torch II(9810 Gunmetal Silver) > BlackBerry Bold 9900) > BlackBerry Z10(STL100-3 Black)

Crap.

One of the major things that I remember as motivating me to return the 9800 after my initial 3-day try was the earpiece volume issue...
Well, hopefully RIM has addressed the issue somewhat in the most recent build runs of the Torch...hopefully. If not...I might be doing something else again. Bottom line: if I can't hear calls through the earpiece, what good is a phone anyway? - 04-09-2011, 12:01 PM #21
I think I will jump to 526 too as everybody is says that it's the best one.
Just one question, is anybody here use Mega Tower Assault, it seem that I can't get it work on a OS other than 337...Blackberry by Choice

I've never had issues with the earpiece volume... Perhaps your older Torch was just a lemon.

I am having so many issues with .526.
#1 Very often it cannot display a webpage correctly, meaning that some blocks of letters were invisible (just blank). Have to restart. Not just one site, several sites, and .227 could display the sites without any glitch.
#2 Once night I put it on the cradle and somehow it died during the night. I woke up by myself finding the cellphone was off and mysteriously I could not started it unless I did a battery pull. Almost made me miss a few important meetings.
#3 Data connection not smooth. Sometimes you see there is full bar but your BBM messages just cannot get sent. And sometimes it drains battery.
#4 If you click the top date/time bar, then you can see your alarm time if your alarm is turned on. But now, if your alarm is on, then when you click the top date/time bar you can only see something like "Alarm ON (". There is no time of the alarm... Kinda weird.
hmmm.. what happened. I didn't do a clean reinstallation but in the past it worked like a charm...
