I would buy the new flip but can't stand the keyboard I like SureType instead.

I agree that OS6 doesn't really look spectacular. To me it seems like it will just be an upgrade without anything to get excited over. It will probably break a lot of apps, especially the free ones. Will just have to see. I will try it on my S2, hopefully it will run better and give me a few bells/whistles.

I'm afraid though, that because of all the hype around OS6, people will be disappointed and upset if it's not the Jesus Phone killer that they want it to be.

It's a shame we can't get more excited about OS6, but I agree, a few updates, but nothing really GREAT. The new browser is the main thing I would like out of it...same boring (to me anyway) ICONS, no way for large BBW symbol to show, and it looks like the Calendar icon still doesn't update to the actual day...thank heavens "theres an app for that!"

We've seen videos of the slider and the flip. And if you paid attention to the memory in each, it is 512MB.

IMO OS6 will be memory hungry. It will not be as snappy as it looks in the video for the storm 2, unless RIM is planing a light version of the OS that the Storm2 hardware will be able to handle.

    Only time will tell.....

I wouldn't think so since Storm has extra hardware settings. I think it will be a bigger OS then others with the sure-press and accelerometer. And then the virtual keyboard as well.

how do you navigate the external screen without having a trackpad? i find it hard to believe that all it will be used for is see caller id/clock?? could it be touch on the outside?

I'd bet you're right. This phone reminds me of a full keyboard pearl flip. it looks uglier than the pearl flip though. And os6 doesn't excite me anymore. I'll keep os5 and just wait for a storm 3.

Looks an awful lot like 5.0 (which looks allot like 4.7) with a crappy theme. So multiple home screens, but you can only change the wallpaper on the portrait or landscape - eh, not great. Ring tones and alerts still don't play through headsets. E-mail still truncated. E-mail still not full HTML. Caller ID still not full screen. Newest hardware only 500mg! Really. I-phone version 1 in 2007 had what 6 or 8 gigs? No wifi N. No compass. No gyroscope. 3.2 MP camera. How is cut/paste? I still don't see that being shown either. Can it still be as bad as it is on S2? Probably. This OS and this hardware could easily have been released in 2003 and hardly make a splash, except for memory starved, screen space lacking BB addicts.

3 years later Apple has done a damn fine job of addressing the shortfalls of the first generation device. last year they more or less past RIM with their implementation of cut/paste.

3 years later, no RIM device has more than 500 megs. Only 2 released so far have OPEN GLES. None planned or made have a front facing camera. The new webkit browser is faster than what we have but still lags well behind Android, WinMo and IOS.

So Excited about this clam shell? No. Not unless there's a 1ghz snap dragon, 500 megs of RAM, 8gig or better application storage, 3.5"+ 640X960 screen, intuitive UI smartphone hiding in there some where.

yeah i got my hopes up but im not really that impressed . willy6 said we still have to wait to see the browser but i dont know how great it can be ?some of the files can be loaded on a storm so i guess we get to see if they are any better or they bog it down. i love my storm but it seems like rims just running in place trying to play catch up .

I wouldn't mind having a phone without all these macho specs as long as I get my email and calls reliably all the time. :-)

not impressed and the phone's design looks like its from the 90s...RIM is full of arrogant bastards who think blackberry users will buy anything they come up with. Instead of forward thinking, they're still in the past.

    Lets do the math:

The video of the flip blackberry (9670) shows 293 MB free memory, I believe this is without any third party applications.
    512-293 free Memory = 219 MB used by OS6.

If you use the same OS6 memory amount of 219 MB on your Storm 2 then,
256-219 for OS6= 37 MB will be only available to hand, this is less than the amount of OS5 on a storm 1 with a couple of applications.
