Default PIN message issue in OS 6.0.0.706

As was pointed out in discussion about this OS in the 9700 forum, there seems to be an issue with PIN message option not showing up in the messages app, I have experienced this issue on both a 9700 and a 9800 on Rogers. If there are others who have this issue on either of these devices or other OS 6 devices using the same version, please report below. Also report issues with OS 7 devices if it is widespread

Installing the latest version of Messenger seemed to fix the PIN issue. I think people that like to shrink the OS and delete Messenger are out of luck on this one. Other two complaints with this one are in my opinion, shortened battery life and the Social Feeds (primarily RSS) is really slow and locks up. Have to hold in Blackberry button and switch to home and then back to fix it. Strange. I would stay with 668, that seems to me to be a really solid build.

I spoke too soon. The PIN issue still persists. It did give me the PIN option for longer when the new version of BBM was installed though. Its back to the way it was though.

The beta version of BBM seems to correct the issue but the problem with that is how many ppl actually have access to the beta 6.1 version of BBM

+1 for the 9670 build release as well

I removed BBM at install so I am not sure if that was the cause of it or not.
I am just happy my VVM works again after 7 months of missing voicemails on the 9670.

Interesting about the beta BBM build. Did you give it some time to see? Is it still working now?

As of last night after 12 hours using it, it was still there

Same here. I put it on a few hours ago. That's a strange error. I wonder how it based at the carrier. Maybe they used the beta to do the testing. Battery life seems slightly better with beta installed, but haven't made it through a full day yet. Social Feeds RSS is still very slow.

It could also be a problem on RIM's end of the OS build

It was too good to be true. The beta of BBM doesn't fix the error. It just makes it appear right for longer. The option to write a PIN has dissappeared again. The only change I made to the OS was updating to a new version of Poynt.

Default Time to sound off

I think its time for us to send a msg to RIM regarding this issue. If the mods Adam or Bla1ze are reading, could you please send me advice on contacting RIM either through PM or through direct msg on my twitter account in my signature

I am experiencing this problem as well since upgrading to 706. I have noticed a few posts in various forums but I hope this can be escalated and reported to RIM so that a fix can be developed.

The PIN messaging is related to which theme I use. For some themes it appears and for others no. I also use the BBM beta and that has no bearing on the issue as you can see.

It is always a crapshoot as to if I will have the ability to send a pin message as I switch my themes everyday or several times a day. Weird and frustrating.
