OS6 Update Broke My Phone!

Since I updated that horrible OS6 update that Sprint pushed, all my themes are broken. I can't access the options screen on ANY of them anymore. When I try a white screen flashes and then I'm kicked back to the main screen. I can't change my wallpaper or anything! I also often get a blank screen when I try to check my text messages. I have to click the icon a second time to get my texts to show up. Why did I install this piece of garbage? *kicks self*

Anyone know what's wrong or how to fix it?

You could try wiping and reloading. Of course that doesn't work OTA.

OS6 isn't garbage. The current VZW release as well as the Sprint I presently run work fine. The Universal Search feature is awesome.

If you went from OS5 to OS6 your themes no longer work. You might have apps that need to updated as well.

Or...as previously stated...wipe and reload.

No, I have a Style so I've had OS6 all along. This was an upgrade of OS6 not an OS5 to OS6 upgrade.

I'm amazed there isn't more outrage over this. The OS 6 update broke EVERY SINGLE third party theme and no one seems to care.

I would suggest using the net_rim_bb_ribbon_app file from an earlier OS version. That has solved the problem for 9700 users.

You can inject that single file into the OS using BBH Tool (or BlackBerry Master Control Program or BB Swiss Army Knife).

This. 9780 OS builds starting in the .500s also have this problem. I believe it manifests itself only in custom (non-stock) themes. CB users determined .461 to have the best ribbon cods (for the 9780.) It was suggested that 4 files need to be replaced. They are:

net_rim_bb_ribbon_app.cod
net_rim_bb_ribbon_lib.cod
net_rim_bb_ribbon_skin_svg.cod
net_rim_bb_ribbon_skin_svg_DelayedInitializer.cod

BBSAK works well in the replacement process.

BBSAK works well in the replacement process.

I second the endorsement for 6.0.0.461 as the version that avoids the home screen preferences bug (for the 9700 here). I have also found that only the ribbon_app file needs to be replaced - the other three listed are fine as is (I build hybrid OSes with varying versions for each of those files, all newer than 6.0.0.461).
