OS6 Service Books - 9700
Hello there, you all look very nice. That top suits you.
Right, on to business. I've stuck the OS6 .344 leak on my Bold 9700 (on Orange). I have followed all the seemingly correct instructions a few times for upgrading (the whole backing up service books and going into legacy mode to restore the working ones and whatnot) and have an OS that I do generally like.
Now, I have the problem with the browser where it occasionally decides it doesn't want to work and the problem seems to be the issue of the "BlackBerry Internet Browsing Service 2[BrowserConfig]" file. Whenever I restore my old service books through Desktop Manager, the browser works fine. However, whenever I lose reception (phone off, going underground, etc.), the service book turns up on my phone as soon as I get reception again.
My question here is this - is there any way to stop this happening? I've searched around and no-one really seems to have an answer. We can park that to a side for the minute. So I guess the question I have is really this - is this something to do with my carrier, Orange? Is it a case that I will be receiving the offending service book until my carrier officially releases OS6 on the Bold 9700 and I just have to put up with deleting the file until then?
Any ideas, people? - 11-14-2010, 05:16 AM #2
Hey there, I had the exact same problem.
When I looked at my friends phone, his browser always worked and when I checked his service books, he had both service books (1 + 2) for the browser which really confused me.
I am on Vodafone in Qatar and I managed to fix it so I know it has nothing really to do with the carrier.
Out of desperation I wiped my phone to factory settings using BBSAK and then it worked after that. Now I can battery pull and still keep the service books after my phone loses signals and all the other problems you listed.
Give it a shot and let me know what happens, you want to back up the information you need. (I didnt back up service books). - 11-14-2010, 09:09 AM #4
I did NOT wipe my phone before installing as the App Loader method does this during the install. I followed to the letter the Install instructions for T-Mobile users and have had VERY few issues. Backing up ONLY the service books and contacts and info and NOT the 3rd party apps and redownloading those apps AFTER install has resulted in almost NO issues. The few issues I've had were quite frankly due to my unfamiliarity with OS6. Wiping the phone with BBSAK or whatever, IMO, is redundant when using the App Loader method and not using the DM method, which I've seen MANY people have had issues with.

Aha! An update for you all!
Properly wiped the device, installed OS6, all working nicely...and the other stupid Service Book arrives on my phone. But...the browser is working this time. Fingers crossed that it will keep working, even with the offending Service Book present. Thanks for the advice, all.
Also, @yehrulz - always used to delete the Service Book and it would work until the next time I lost reception. While that does make the browser work, it was just a bit of a hassle and wanted a long-term solution. - 11-15-2010, 04:34 AM #7
Dude, all ur posts are useless. this is a forum, they asked because they do not understand. they didnt read all the forum because they have a life, not like someone who stare to the crackberry web all day long having no real life.
