    Default OS 6 Rollout?

I'm pretty sure the mass rollout of 5.0.0.8xx on most devices and through most carriers will be the last OS 5 that many of our BB's will

Its just like the last one, make sure all current/active devices are running the best possible version of the current OS, do refreshes etc, and that all sets the stage to start rolling OS6 to the newer devices.

Yeah I do agree with you that 5.0.0.8XX will probably be the last OS5 updates to be rolled out and I see where you are coming from with the refreshes but this has already been established! Many people have already come up with this conclusion. I think a Leak will be available before 8 weeks.

How do you know OS6 will be released within 8 weeks? That's too long

Just an observation, but all the recent OS updates (official) have all been the same build even for different carriers. For example .810 for the 9650 came out for both Alltel and US cell...usually there is a difference. Could this be because of OS 6? I hope so.

Nah, all carriers have the same OS's for testing. So both of them found it to be acceptable and released it.

Well i know that, but I'm thinking that maybe they're more concerned with testing os 6, rather than advancing 5.

All carriers are testing some version of OS 6, given.

But US Cell just got the 9650 so they had to give an OS. Since .810 was the best in approval, it was accepted, nothing changed.

But look 5.0 was just approved for 9000 on AT&T lol...... So somebody is doing something, then nothing at all.

Who said they were advancing OS5? All we've said is that .8xx will be the last OS 5 updates and even AT&T have now released it for the 9000. So with the last OS 5 releases out, OS 6 shouldn't be too far away!

With most exiting models not getting OS6, is RIM really just giving up on those device total? Many users just bought phones that they will have for two years... can't believe that RIM is going to have nothing for them.

The only devices that won't have 6, according to speculation, are the ones that can not handle it.

It is not like the older devices will shut down, I can tell you the probably 70-80% of the users (maybe more) could care less about or even know OS 6 exist.

The only thing that worries me about os 6 is the Apps that I have and they might not work.

I'm sure it's a front burner issue for RIM as is evident by their market share shrinking. I don't think the carriers see it as important. I just bought my 9650 in anticipation of OS6. I love my Bold but if OS6 does not improve a few things that are important to me, it's Android here I come.

I hope it is a good roll out as you mention! I'm just looking forward to it for the webkit. Other than that I hope the os is not so buggy that I would have to go back to the 5. Whatever os I have now.

Where is the leaked 6.0 OS for the Bold 9700?? It's pretty ridiculous when the leaks of this new OS are for devices that haven't even hit the market. Yet, one of the most popular (9700) is left out in the cold. :"(
