Default Os 6.1?

I am of course very excited about OS 7.1, OS 2 for the playbook and BB10.
But there are some of us, like me, who bought a new Blackberry before OS7 came out. I bought a new Blackberry curve 9300 about 7 months ago.
I like that RIM is thinking about the future, that they keep working on OS7 and BB10. But are they thinking about the people who can't buy a new Blackberry for another year and who would wish to see a newer OS on there 'old' Blackberrys?
I mean, I would love to have an OS 6.1 on my curve. Maybe just a change of icons and something that looks more like OS7, but I have a feeling that RIM abandoned OS6 for good.
Does anybody know if there ever is going to be an OS 6.1?

OS6.1 became OS7.

I know that normally OS 7 would be OS 6.1.
But now they made it OS7 and it only runs on higher devices. OS 6.1 is 'free' again, so I was just wondering if they would do something with that.

As has been said OS 6.1 became OS 7 and with it shafted a whole load of people in contract with phones that didn't have the hardware to support the hardware dependant elements of OS7.

Hardware requirements for OS7 might be more than what prior devices can muster. This situtation isn't new, many OS5 devices weren't going to get OS6 when that round of devices were released. And while some did get OS6, the rest were left out.

Nope. You've been EOL'd just like half of the OS5 users were and like the OS7 users will be when OS10 comes out.

Before I got the 9900 I had 2 OS6 devices, I used a theme (Six dot X) to get the OS7 icon look, so if you'd be satisfied with just an icon change go with that.

I'm not Apple's biggest fan but it must be pleasing for iPhone users to see that even their 3GS phones can run iOS5 and they haven't been EOL'd quickly like has happened and will again happen to BB OS5 OS6 and soon(ish) OS7.

Fair play to Apple on this but while the iPhone 4s has massive hardware leaps from the 3GS they've kept their latest OS backward compatible.

One of the main reasons that I made the switch. I want a phone that's futureproof.

Yeah as they said its rim so don't get too excited its never gonna happen and I heard that they won't even release bbx for 9900 . What a shame . I also had bought iphone 4s so that I will get the latest os until 3 years and some people talked about a os 7 lite ( atleast for 9800 for people who spent so much money just to get outdated within a year ) that's not gonna happen either
