Really hope someone has the time to help me...
I had the blackberry bold 9000 for 2 years. Never updated the os. Always had the old BBM everything was just simple and original old. But I got a second hand phone (bold 9700) as mine was on it's last legs... and got a good deal. Come on lottery
It was on orange and has the orange os6 installed. I think it's a theme but no idea as it's the only one installed and i cannot seem to change it.
So it was a HUGE jump for me. Total change.
So I have a few problems
I had the phone unlocked for my TMobile chip... works in there. Set up email and BBM etc. Everything works ok but there's a few really niggling issues that are driving me insane. I've looked for answers so I really hope someone can help.

1 - Whenever I get a gmail it shows the red star to indicate new message. I go in the gmail box and nothing..? But when I scroll down to ALL MESSAGES it's in there. But not in my gmail box. After hours it seems to have updated it self but not always. Even sending an email from in there it sends fine but doesn't show up in the gmail box only ALL MSGS box.

2 - If I am in the SMS box and hit compose it ALWAYS gives me the option to compose email or BBM or whatsapp. Is there a way to get rid of this uneeded step. Before it would just compose whatever inbox I was in. Now it asks ever time what would I like to compose

3 - Emails are layed out strange. It says
(4 Items)
SUBJECT
but no name...? I don't mind emails being grouped like this but there is no name only number of items and name. And in options i have show name ticked?

4 - Anyone know a good clean simple theme that doesn't take up the whole home screen? And is cheap or free... Thank

There are quite a few big adjustments when moving to OS6.

1) For the Gmail issue, it may be related to the now built-in Enhanced Gmail Plugin. Personally I've never really liked that plugin, so I usually remove it before I install my OS. If you want to remove that plugin, do a search for either BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife (BBSAK) or BlackBerry Master Control Program (BBMCP). Personally I prefer BBMCP, but both work quite well.

Plug in your USB cable, have whichever app you choose read the file system on your BlackBerry, and then look for files named net_rim_gmail_***.cod. There should be three of those. Remove them, reboot, and that ought to clear up the phantom gmail messages.

2) Not sure how to fix the issue of being prompted on each compose. That one seems odd. I'll see whether I can find an answer though.

3) Sounds like you have emails set to "Group by Subject", which I have found to be a handy feature. I'm wondering whether you have Display Message Header set to one line or two. That may be causing the issue you're seeing.

4) As for a clean theme, check out the leebo series in my signature (or here if you're reading this message on your device).

1. Couldn't agree more with wu-wei, I've never liked the plug-in.

2. Try changing and saving the setting, then changing back to the one you want.

3. Group by subject is great, once you get used to it. I also much prefer having the header set to 2 lines.

4. Best damn theme ever!

I suggest reloading the OS on your 9000, possibly shrinking OS 5 after loading/updating it from OS 4.6, that should bring new life into it, just in case your second hand 9700 was to stop working entirely, as these things are unconditional.

i couldnt find any net_rim_gmail_***.cod when using BBMCP, i did find around 6 instances of net_rim_bb_gmail_*** (no file extension, assuming they are .cod)

can anyone confirm which ones i'm supposed to go after?

My error, I forgot the "_bb" part of the file name. Those are the ones you'll want to remove.
