Companionlink not a great option
I just bought Companionlink in haste hoping it would resolve the sync issue. Like other business users, I'm sure none of us have the time to be playing around with this thing for a week and based on the "Sync your BB10 w/ Outlook" announcements from the makers of the software, I hoped it would work. In the "fine print", here's what they tell you:
1) You have to "side load" Companionlink's app (DejaOffice) onto the BB10 in Developer Mode
2) Even with that, it STILL won't truly sync with your Blackberry. Saying it will is disingenuous - it will sync to their DejaOffice app ON your BB10, not the native Calendar, Contacts, and Notes apps on the device, meaning you have to run everything from inside their app.
Here's what they also don't tell you:
3) Their app is very cumbersome and painfully slow. I've got over 650 contacts, and it was taking 2-3 seconds for each just to (seemingly) prepare to sync.
4) I keep getting black screens with their app on my BB10. I've got nothing on my device to interfere with anything they're doing.
5) A lot of the tips and guides say "Android", not Blackberry. Looks like this was a hasty marketing move to grab quick sales.
My advice is don't waste the money on CompanionLink unless you absolutely have to have your new contacts, calendar, etc. on your BB10. Instead, just suffice with the device transfer from your old Blackberry (if you have one) or do what I'm doing, which is getting ready to return my BB10 to the carrier if I don't hear an answer back from Blackberry. Was very hopeful at first and anticipating getting the device, now I'm extremely disappointed.
