- I'm sitting in the OHare airport waiting for my flight to Denver. I want to dim my screen to save battery.
First of all, i notice that the 'quick setting' for brightness no longer works. I can't simply slide the setting left or right to adjust the brightness.
Instead, i take the long way and go directly into settings -> Display to change the brightness. To my amazement, the brightness setting does not work here either. If i try to change the brightness, the BB10 'gesture' part of the OS takes over and it slides the active screen away.
I am literally unable to change the brightness of my display.
Quite freakin unacceptable!
10.3.1 has been nothing short of a disaster for me. Pathetic battery life, extremely slow response times (if i click on a 'toast' notification to respond to the message, my phone freezes for about 5-10 seconds). Half of my apps no longer work properly. The ones that do work are extremely slow.
IMO, 10.3.1 is nothing more than a cosmetic upgrade with a whole bunch of functional downgrades!
Posted via CB1003-23-15 04:24 PMLike 0 - Brightness slider is working perfectly here, remember if the phone is in Battery Saving it's disabled.
I can relate to the responsiveness though, there's certainly something badly coded in there.
1779 btw03-23-15 04:27 PMLike 3 - What OS version are you on? Like what bundle number? (Settings> About > Category: OS > OS Version)
Should say something like 10.3.1.2267/10.3.1.2576?03-23-15 04:29 PMLike 0 -
Sure enough, this solved my issue.
I retract part of my statement, but i still feel 10.3.1 is a functional downgrade.
Thanks for help, Paul.

- There are LOTS of people very happy with 10.3.xx. But the negative posts will always dominate these forums because people who are satisfied don't share nearly as much.
So like watching news on TV, if you think that's all that's going on in the world you'd get a very narrow, negative view.

Okay, that's not 100% accurate, I've seen you say positive things about Android devices/software, but that doesn't really count.
The real situation with 10.3.1 is that it works really well for the majority of users but with the initial release there were some pretty big bugs that affected a lot of users.
Personally (I'm not speaking for anyone else here), I felt that 10.3.1 was an improvement from 10.2 even with the bugs (because none of the major bugs were associated with functionality I used regularly or depended on).
Since the initial 10.3.1 releases (10.3.1.2243/10.3.1.2267) that were pushed to everyone (with the bugs), BlackBerry has pushed not 1 or 2 but 4 new updates to try to rectify the situation (10.3.1.2480/10.3.1.2558/10.3.1.2576/10.3.1.2582) and these OS versions work really well - very few people on these versions think it is a downgrade from 10.2.
So the real situation is:
1) you're negative
2) there were bugs, but the OS was still working well for most people
3) BB is actively trying to fix the problem
4) the new releases work really well and fix most of the problems03-24-15 09:47 AMLike 5 -

http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe.../#post1149817103-24-15 04:49 PMLike 0 - Since Z10 is not my main device I play with it and test every single popular leak and official release. From 1151 to 2582 phone vibrates after call answer and has a significant delay on answer and number dial. More than 4 months there is no fix. Just to remind you that the phone had a $600 price tag here in Canada, a flagship device. It's hard to be positive in this case, sorry. Phone calls are the main function of a phone. The real situation is that BlackBerry introduced more bugs in 10.3.1 update than improvements.
And here, you missed a couple users with the same delayed connecting issue to incoming calls:

Really? Wow! Testing time... again.
What about vibration after call answer?

RTFM. This update is huge and brings functionality to a superior level in every way.03-24-15 06:16 PMLike 0 - What else you expect? To post a standard CB remedy for all issues "reboot, wipe, autoload" (like users with thousands posts here, doing copy/paste of a useless advice) or assure everyone that "I have no issues at all" (like few users happy with everything new coming from BlackBerry, even if it's worse)? No, not me. I have paid for a mobile device, hardware + software. If it's not working properly, than I want my money back. Nothing is free here, we all pay for BlackBerry products.

I would also warn you of anything that Thorsten Heinsight has to say. Even if his opinion is similar to mine here, because according to him when the same exact thing was expressed by me in another thread about WiFi connectivity issues, he adamantly disagreed and chalked it up to a bad OS. With this wishy-washy approach In one thread saying that the OS is bad because a few reported issues, but then coming here to say that the OS/BlackBerry should not be blamed because the issue is not widespread, is just from someone who will say anything at different times. There is no credibility when people play politician and change stances from moment to moment.
I return his very same response about me. From a thread that has been so butchered by MODS in favor of that train of thought, it no longer makes any sense
I'm all for people being entitled to their own opinions, but Thorsten Heinsight is obviously trolling Thorsten Heinsight is notorious for being nothing but argumentative, I don't know why you're dignifying him with a response.
I cannot completely agree with you on all fronts, but I can say your decision to reply to Thorsten Heinsight is a waste of your time.

- My upgrade has been a disaster. Sluggish phone. Half of my apps don't work anymore. Can't watch vine videos, takes 10 seconds to make a call or receive one. My battery life is brutal. I can't make it to noon let alone a whole day. Just trying to type is a struggle as a black bar covers my words as I type them. It's great that your phone works so smoothly. Mine and many others haven't been so lucky. And that's the problem...it shouldn't be luck of the draw every time a software upgrade takes place.
People like you actually prevent improvements IMO. The way you brush off serious issues that many users have with statements like " my phone is working great" and "you're negative " doesn't help anyone. Of course we're being negative. If our phones worked properly we wouldn't have anything to complain about. Hence the negative posts.
Yes there were some neat features added with 10.3 but added features don't replace basic phone performance and simple tasks like making calls or seeing what you are typing while you type it.
Coming here to brag about how your phone is working great does nothing. Mine isn't. It's a tire fire basically.04-01-15 10:50 AMLike 0 -
