- I don't think a firmware update would bother your setup but! Sometimes it does take the settings back to factory. I would say if I found the right router, I searched Rogers w35 and it came up with an eicson that 2009 is the latest.

Here's another screen grab. You can see it has identified my router's software, & it certainly appears to be older

Edit. That warning makes it sound like you shouldn't do it but calling Rogers can't hurt.Ursus Rufus likes this.01-14-15 06:42 PMLike 1 -
I want to thank everyone for the help & kindness they've shown in this thread.
In particular, you, kbz1960, and of course, Joshu42.
Saying that, because, I'd like you both to know, that I'm not certain I want to stick around, & may end up deleting my profile on CB.
It's not a choice I would make lightly, but I also do not like being the object of rather personal feeling criticisms & reproaches, which has happened on one or two other threads.
For the moment, though, I will hold fast, and proceed with the Wi-Fi problem at hand.01-14-15 08:17 PMLike 2 - kbz1960Doesn't MatterI'll be calling them tomorrow or the next day.

- Update: Checked with Rogers about updating the firmware on the router. They said I can do so at my own risk, the device is no longer on contract. Person there also recommended I contact their tech dept., & or manufacturer before doing so.
However. Simple solutions first!
I did what the mighty kbz1960 suggested, & changed the settings. From Auto to channel 6, and from mixed mode to G only. (FWIW, also changed password for first time in months.)
In the past 22 hours, Wi-Fi has not dropped once. So far so good. Will report back.

Posted via CB1001-18-15 12:46 PMLike 0 - I see connection steps, no disconnection. I guess you missed it A disconnection event is like this for example :
{timestamp}: CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED bssid={bssid} reason={3}
But, if your phone get the Wi-Fi back on its own, it's not the same "first" issue you had before. This one is probably linked to the signal strength. Here, it's Ok (-53dBm) but if it was under -70dBm before, it's not, obviouslyUrsus Rufus and kbz1960 like this.01-18-15 02:54 PMLike 2 - Salut tout le monde.

Many days now, and no problems...01-23-15 11:44 AMLike 2 - Hi all long time no see.
Well. I updated to the official OTA upgrade, & recently a little further (10.3.1.2744).
With the official update I had little or no WiFi issues. However. With this latest version, there are regular WiFi drops every day. Several times a day. And I spotted some (to my eye) unusual activity in the logs. When it shows again I will copy & share here.
Cheers
Posted via CB1005-26-15 03:28 AMLike 0 - Hoping there is something in the logs here. WiFi as bad as it has ever been.
Note: "Unresponsive AP" in there

Posted via CB1005-26-15 10:37 PMLike 0 - You signal strength is under -70dBm (-74, -76 and -78dBm) ; so you have signal drops.
Where were you when you test your connection ? Something changed in the vicinity ? (new fridge, old fridge, microwave, neighbours, ...)
I didn't remember, did you have slots to put Wi-Fi antennas on your router ? If so, don't hesitate. You will have a great signal boost.05-27-15 05:35 AMLike 0 - Merci encore Josh.
There is no way I could attach a booster or antenna directly to the router. And no new appliances have been added nor has anything been moved since we last communicated, months ago.
In fact, the only thing that has changed is my Z30's OS.
If it is a signal problem, maybe I could install a remote booster?
D'ailleurs (FYI) I just conducted a 3 hour experiment:
I have 3 phones. A Moto G, an iPhone 4S & my beloved Z30. I placed all 3 on a work table about 3 rooms distant from the WiFi router. I kept an eye on them while I worked.
Well, guess what happened? WiFi did not drop once on either the Android or the iPhone. Par contre, the BlackBerry dropped 18 times over the same period.
Posted via CB1005-27-15 12:08 PMLike 0 - That's not a great test Better to check the dBm on your BlackBerry phone as you move away from the Access Point... As you know now, under -70dBm the signal is too low and connection dropped.
You can test something though. Use foil to build a small satellite dish behind your router, toward the room you usually work.
That said, I have no issue but other does : http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=1009216.05-27-15 04:50 PMLike 0
