I was playing around in the picture app and slid to the right to select an album. Low and behold I saw a map option and it brought this up.

    When Was Picture Location Added?-img_20150328_082051.png

When was this added? Is it new? I found it to be very accurate when you zoom in. I had an app called taken in order to do this before.

If you tap on a location it also sorts the relevant pictures which is really slick!

How about we share some screen shots of the places we've been!

Think it was a 10.3 feature, don't remember seeing it in 10.2.1

No it definitely was not there initially. I remember people complaining about it not being there.

Cool feature but raises an interesting issue: the gps in my phone is nowhere close to being accurate. I have pictures taken in the same location showing great variation in their mapping.

The camera has to get a location pretty quickly. If the GPS hasn't been used recently in the area it can take too long to get a fix, so the camera will use a position from the cell or Wi-Fi networks. When I have time I'm working on a camera application that will use the GPS when able, and tell you how accurate the available position is. In the meantime if you want accurate locations from the built-in camera application I suggest you start an application that uses the GPS and leave it running in the background while you take pictures.

I've found leaving the camera in the active frame also helps.
