Open WhatsApp is a good alternative for the last few days before native is released...

My only gripe is no hub integration... when whatsapp is closed I don't even get a new whatsapp message until I open the application again...

It's hit and miss for some reason... so if the applications is closed I do t always get notified in the hub. that screen shot you posted, I get when whatsapp is open as an active frame.. not when the app is completely closed.. and by hub integration, I mean native integration. Not the notifications section

Whatsapp: probably this week sometime.

Instagram: In 2 years, if we're lucky. It only recently made it to Android, and it isn't on WP8. A port is unlikely because Arabic users will flame the ratings (Arabic doesn't work in ported apps). Unless the Jellybean update fixes Arabic in ported apps, or the Facebook acquisition has changed Instagram's business model, it's unlikely that it will be on BB10 any time soon.

Emoticons are missing - I can see this ad a fail. But for contacts. Have u tried going into the contacts icon then hitting settings and then "Sync contacts ". This worked for me.

I'm getting really sick of waiting for whatsapp. I had the side loaded version but I reloaded my os and haven't bothered reinstalling it. It didn't work too well. Don't even cate to go through the trouble for open whatsapp. I just want it released already. Less than 2 weeks away from American launch. You'd think these devs would want it released to the current market so we can work out and report any kinks.

I'm starting to doubt native instagram will come anytime soon, we may have to rely on android port a little longer... If I think about it, even windows8 doent have instagram app as of today, and that OS has been out for longer than BB10.

Yeah, 5 hours ago it was difficult to download for many people. I find this version of whatsapp far from perfect.
