Link is simply a way to connect your phone to your computer to transfer files, music, etc. It also requires a hardwire, ie USB, connection.

Blend will be a software portal on your computer that will receive your email, bbms, texts, etc so that you can view and respond to them using your computer as well as your phone.

I know I'm leaving out some functionality but I think you get the point. Hope that helps

This description is fro the Official Inside BlackBerry website:

Onstage today at the*BlackBerry Passport*events in Toronto, London and Dubai, we showed off BlackBerry Blend. This new wireless app allows you to display content from your BlackBerry, such as conversations, calendars, files, contacts and more, on other screens such as computers and tablets.

Link doesn't require USB to transfer files.

    Think of it this way...
When your at your computer or tablet, Blend reduces the need to use your BB10 device so you can tap into your BlackBerry to check emails, sms, BBM, calendar, etc.. all on the larger screen of a desktop or tablet.
Link was only useful for backups and syncing media/contacts.. sort of!

Does blend work for other platforms like apple and Google devices?

I know it allows you to connect your BlackBerry cross-platform but wondering if Blend can be used to connect other phone platforms.

It works for Windows Desktop, Mac OS, iOS and Android. Personally would like to see support for Windows RT.

The difference is that current owners of BlackBerry devices can't use it.

Sorry poorly phrased. I meant whether it will enable users of android or apple phones to connect to their tablets and pcs via Blend.

Or does it only work with BlackBerry phones?

Blend is functionally a cross platform version of Bridge with an updated UI and delivery method. Sadly, it won't work with my Z10 or my PlayBook. Hopefully that will be resolved for the Z10 with 10.3.1. It kind of irks me to see full Bridge functionality cross platform and having lost most of the functionality on my BlackBerry devices when I upgraded to BB10.

There is a page on Blackberry World with a great comparison between the 3 interfaces.

    go to Blackberry World
Click on the tab for "Software"
    then choose "Desktop software"

There is a chart showing the requirements and a comparison.
