My Google maps keeps hanging or not loading properly.
I am not sure of it is my android runtime version or the maps itself.

    Any ideas or suggestions?
I don't want to lose Google maps completely because that's what happened last time and I couldn't go back.

I believe I am running modified Google services version some one patched here.

I have not yet installed Google Services on my Passport. I do not have any issue with Google Maps.

Provided you don't try to log in, you can use the latest version.

I'm currently running 6.8.1 for Google maps as I like it the best since doesn't keep asking you to sign in every time you try to enter something for a search. The version is clean and works perfectly. It doesn't have street view though but I don't care about that, but it does everything else fine. Just type Google maps 6.8.1 on a search engine as it is still available for download. Try it and see what you think.

    I am using modified 7.6.0
I believe this was google services-patched by someone on this forum, I don't have the thread anymore but anything else that I tried actually went to "main menu" whenever I ran the application and disabled traffic. This version manages to remember my choices and area, including traffic option.

I don't think I have the APK anymore so if I upgrade I will lose it.

Try my version, it doesn't ask either.
Actually, I think I still have the APK, do you want to try my version?
    com.google.android.apps.maps.zip
I think this is what I am using right now.

Thank you, but 10.3.1 or 10.3.0 might have better android player. However when you run the google maps, does it always start from home screen (the menu) or does it go back to your map location & settings intact?

It use to work great but the last 5 updates caused it to hang the map view after launching the app, so if you try to move from a location to another the map doesn't update but the app menus work normally.

    No . . . never.

Google Maps displays the map of the last location displayed when I closed the app. Google Maps displays a satellite image if satellite image is turned on when I closed the app.

Exactly same issue I am having.
Closing it won't help either, sometimes I have to restart the phone.

Seeing you own a Z30 makes me sure it's not a phone variant related issue, wonder what makes it work for others while not for us

Hi guys, my Google maps is asking me to update it.
    Is it advisable?
I wanted to see if new version will help load faster because old one gets stuck sometimes.
I think the version I am using is already patched.

No. The latest one on Google Play with run at all. Stick to older versions. I'm using 6.8.1, the only one with working voice navigation for me.

    Using latest version.
    No google play services installed.
Google login installed and works with maps. (i.e.. my places, history etc)
    Running 10.3.0.908
    Q10

The first time you install it you need to reset the device. After reset, startup the first time maybe a bit slow, but after that it's great, works well.
